Information Cartography

... the process of building information maps or models based on data that is non-spatial/non-geographic (i.e., having no real-world co-ordinates). Often created using Geographic Information System (GIS) software. IC draws on the metaphor of an information landscape populated by information landmarks -- forming an information map.
